This song does weird things to me. It reminds me of living outside of London in the early 2000s (even though this song wasn’t out then). I used to do window displays for these little fashion boutiques, “under the table,” in the rich part of an expensive city (the one with the castle). I remember spray painting a drawing of the Roman colosseum on some huge panels in a basement parking garage underneath like, a Boots or something, for Dolce & Gabbana and thinking to myself “well, this is what I do now, I guess.” I was 21 at the time and a high school drop out. I had listed “poet” as my occupation on my passport with all the hubris of youth and future embarrassment at airports I could muster. It’s been more than a few years since then but I’m pretty sure that not going to college for a liberal arts degree has given me similar, if not the same experiences as going to college for a liberal arts degree could have.
Marginally mediocre.
