The dwarves of Geshudomrist finally cleaned up and gathered all the goods left behind by the previous dwarf settlement. They’ve been under siege for a few years though too and are just now receiving a break from the goblin hordes. The merchants stuck in the waterfall, and their yaks, have since been mutilated and killed.
At the moment, the dwarves are busy making new clothes for themselves and collecting lumber from up above to turn into coal in order to melt down all the iron trappings left behind by the dead goblins. Thread is being gathered and spun from spider silk collected in the caverns below the fortress or from pig tails grown by farmers on the second level. The masons have started to wall off certain sections of the cavern below. The militia, led by Rift Mirrorwalls (an elite marksman married to with a braided moustache and two pet war trained dogs) wants to build a barracks down there after the forgotten beast, Gothum Angzakrintor Kodathelcur, a huge feathered elephant with eight horns, flew over all the traps they’d laid and killed 4 dogs and three members of the militia before Rift finally lodged a finely crafted copper bolt in its eye. Safety is key.
The bridge connecting Geshudomrist to the outside world will go back up soon. A few migrants just arrived and the mechanics are almost done laying out their traps in the outside world. It’s been a long time since they traded or met with any diplomats but the dwarves of Geshudomrist have enough to worry about in what lies below than to concern themselves with the world outside.
